We appreciated being quoted in Forbes in “13 Accountability Tricks To Help You Break That Bad Habit”! Many great suggestions here from expert coaches. We focus on the willingness to start again, using self-compassion to guard against discouragement or becoming self-defeating. Research on self-compassion shows that when we accept that we are human, speak to ourselves as we would to a child or a friend, and stay in today rather than get caught up in the future and the past (e.g., “I always” or “I’ll never”….), we are more successful in getting back on track. This is key to breaking bad habits and developing good ones!
